First Day at Hawthorn Interiors

The first day at a new job often comes with a mix of anticipation and adjustment, and starting at Hawthorn Interiors was no exception. The morning began with a sense of curiosity about what the day would bring, setting the stage for a schedule filled with design discussions, problem-solving, and an introduction to the studio’s extensive fabric collection.

The day started with a call from prospective clients looking for custom curtains. Initially drawn to a deep emerald green fabric, they became interested in visiting the studio to explore additional options. Viewing and feeling the materials in person allowed them to better visualize their choices, leading to a session spent considering a range of textures and colors from brands such as Designers Guild and Osborne & Little. The primary challenge was balancing their preferred aesthetic with their budget, and after reviewing multiple samples, a selection was made. Bespoke fittings were scheduled, and the clients left looking forward to seeing the final result in their home.

Later, a long-standing client returned to discuss a redesign for their son’s room. Having previously worked with Katie on other areas of their home, they sought guidance on creating a fresh and stylish space but had only a general color scheme in mind. Through discussion and exploration of different concepts, a theme and layout emerged that pushed them slightly beyond their usual design preferences. By the end of the meeting, they had embraced the new direction and were eager to move forward.
