The second day at Hawthorn Interiors began immediately with a new client consultation. This particular client had a clear vision; an apartment filled with bold color, balanced by touches of elegance to complement his collection of original artworks from an American artist. Incorporating these pieces into the overall design was a priority, and discussing how best to achieve this with Katie became a key part of the meeting. The conversation challenged familiar approaches to color schemes, encouraging a fresh perspective on how to enhance the space while allowing the artwork to remain the focal point. It was an insightful process, providing an opportunity to explore new techniques and ideas.
As the day progressed, there was a chance to visit several of Hawthorn Interiors’ trusted collaborators, including curtain makers and upholsterers. One of the highlights was a visit to the upholsterer’s workshop.
An entirely different experience from a standard production space. Rather than functioning solely as a workspace, the building had been transformed into a multi-level showcase, featuring fully styled rooms designed to demonstrate the range of bespoke projects available. Each space highlighted different possibilities, from fabric-paneled ceilings to custom headboards, offering a tangible way to present ideas to clients. The visit provided valuable insight into the craftsmanship behind the designs and the level of detail that goes into each project.
The day offered a deeper understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of interior design, reinforcing the collaborative nature of the work at Hawthorn Interiors.
